With almost 40 years of experience in healthcare business and clinical care, I am able to listen to my clients needs, bring to bear my professional knowledge and perspective, and creatively problem solve. This helps to give my clients a feeling of control in a crisis situation. I work closely with them and their providers to ensure that communications are clear, transitions are smooth, and everyone has a common understanding of the situation. This includes keeping the family updated as agreed upon, often easing the patient and family emotional burden. My knowledge of counseling is particularly helpful in understanding the link between physiological and mental health and the toll crises can take on everyone. I work hard to identify additional or alternative provider or other resources that may be desirable. My client patients range in age from children to older adults. I maintain my certification as a Certified Senior Advisor because I feel that my older adult clients often have specific issues that are unique. I am also active among leaders in the field of health advocacy and patient advocacy as an officer of the national Patient Advocate Certification Board (PACB) which launched the first national certification exam for patient and health advocates in March 2018. I love what I do, and the rewarding feeling I get from having clients trust me to help them get what they need in health-related services.
